Some members of Cymdeithas Aberaeron might be interested in the following event.

Rome, the Eternal City: Open day at UWTSD Special Collections

We will display a variety of books associated with Rome, the eternal city and the city of visible history. They will include Giambattista Piranesi’s magnificent Le antichità romane, as well as a sample of other volumes aimed at the Grand Tourists of the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries. We will also display the nonsense poet Edward Lear’s travel book, Views in Rome and its environs.

The event will take place twice on Wednesday 18 February at 10 am and 2 pm, in UWTSD Special Collections in Lampeter. It will begin with a short talk, followed by a chance to examine the volumes on show.

If you would like to know more or to book a place, please contact Ruth Gooding (r.gooding@uwtsd.ac.uk)
